According to the Financial Times, Osborne sees crisis as chance to push reform, 8 August 2011, the UK Chancellor sees the current Eurozone crisis as a political “opportunity” to inject urgency into his efforts to revitalise Britain’s sluggish economy.

Pressure is mounting on Mr Osborne to show he has a vigorous supply-side reform agenda to accompany his deficit reduction plan, with many Conservatives urging him to be much more ambitious in cutting burdens on business when he unveils phase two of his growth review.

Mr Osborne signalled on Monday that he would tackle his critics head-on. Pressing ahead with planning system reforms, cutting red tape and overhauling employment laws appear to be the main objectives.
