EBA Updates Stress Tests

The European Banking Authority (EBA) has updated its figures on banks’ recapitalisation needs. Two months ago, the EBA estimated that Europe’s banks needed €106bn to reach a core tier 1 capital ratio of 9% by mid-2012. That estimate has gone up to almost €115bn, mainly because of the additional capital needed by German, Austrian and Belgian banks.
